“OI you lot, the goalie’s going up front!”

That was the puzzled cry from the Brimsdown Rovers bench as Hawks Reserves keeper Michael Dumoulin donned the number 17 shirt to play in attack for the final 12 minutes at Barrows Farm.

The switch of position for Harlow’s skipper came after Kevin Warren’s men overturned a 1-0 half-time deficit to win their final game of the season 2-1.

They finished third in the eastern division of the Capital League, behind second-placed Enfield Town and winners AFC Hornchurch.

The visitors took an unexpected lead 13 minutes into Monday night’s clash when Brimsdown captain Matthew Crooks scored at the second time of asking.

His initial shot was parried by Dumoulin before he smashed home the rebound through a crowded area.

Shaun Gliddon sent a free kick just over shortly after the half-hour mark, before Jon Olejnik’s effort was blocked by a defender on the line after Lewis Baker dispossessed the keeper on the left side of the box.

Danny Green equalized from the spot 20 minutes from time after Olejnik’s shirt was tugged in the box, sending keeper Fatmir Frosheri the wrong way.

Seconds later, Brimsdown’s Kirt Osbourne cracked a brilliant shot towards goal from 30 yards out, but the ball flew just wide.

But Harlow completed the turnaround in the 78th minute when a charge down the right by substitute Michael Greene resulted in his shot being turned into Olejnik’s path by the keeper.

His shot was blocked by a defender, but Shaun Gliddon buried the rebound.

Keeper Dumoulin then took his place up front having played in attack in his younger years, with substitute stopper Dawid Jucha taking up position between the sticks.
